SUMMARY

During his visit to the island of Elephantine in Aswan, Egypt, Matías contemplates the ruins of the ancient temple of Khnum and reflects on the importance of foundations in life. Through his experience, Matías comes to the conclusion that life is like an ancient temple constantly under reconstruction, where each culture and generation builds upon the foundations of the previous one. Recognizing and honoring these foundations becomes the key to finding one’s path in life and building a meaningful future. As he explores the concept of foundations, Matías comes to understand that his own identity and purpose are rooted in the foundations of his ancestral past. Ultimately, the text invites readers to confront their own foundations, rebuild them, and use them as a basis for creating a life filled with meaning and purpose.

QUOTE

“Foundations, the bases, the structures, are key to your evolution, to your movement.”

EXERCISES

Foundations Meditation:
Find a quiet and comfortable place to sit or lie down.
Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Inhale and exhale deeply several times to relax.
Mentally visualize your foundations, as if they were solid bases beneath you. Imagine that you are connected to your spiritual roots.
While meditating, reflect on the ancestral and cultural influences that have shaped your life. Be grateful for what they have taught you and for who you are today.
Feel how these foundations give you strength and stability. Allow yourself to recognize the importance of your roots in your spiritual evolution.

Inner North Meditation:
Sit in silence and bring your attention inward. Close your eyes if you wish.
Visualize a fixed point within you, your “inner north.” It can be a symbol, a star, or any image representing your internal reference.
Imagine that this fixed point guides you and provides direction in life. Feel how it connects you to your foundations and helps you navigate the waters of existence.
During the meditation, reflect on your current purposes and goals. Ask yourself if you are aligned with your inner north and how you can adjust your course if needed.

Reconstruction Meditation:
Sit in a quiet place and focus on your breath.
Visualize an ancient structure, such as a temple or a house in ruins. Imagine that this structure represents ancient aspects of yourself.
Visualize how you rebuild this structure with love and attention. Each brick you place represents a part of yourself that you are honoring and restoring.
While doing this meditation, reflect on any pain or limitation in your life that you may be experiencing due to your ancient foundations. Find ways to heal and transform those areas.
